And...I'm back... I think

Now that I've gotten into the swing of things with my new company....I can breathe a little. I've still been reading blogs and commenting here and there....so I've not disappeared completely. But now that I'm 35 as of 2-24-07, I've decided to practice these words.

Wait for the woman who calls you beautiful instead of hot
who calls you back when you hang up on her,
who will stay awake just to watch you sleep.

Wait for the woman who kisses your forehead,
who wants to show you off to the world when you are in your sweats
who holds your hand in front of her friends.

Wait for the one who is constantly reminding you of how much she cares about you
and how lucky she is to have you.

Wait for the one who turns to her friends and says ".........that’s her. "

Slacker

Yes, I've been a slacker, I know, I know. The first week at my new company went pretty well, but damn busy. I've never been to so many meetings in one week. A change of pace from my old company, that's for sure, but a welcome change.

Looking back at it, what I really got from my old company was a 2 week paid vacation plus a severance pay. THANKS FOR THAT! But truth be told, I was sweating bullets for 2 weeks and it sucked. Thank you all for your well wishes.

My next goal is to move out of Georgia. I'm done here, really, in so many ways. I need, yes need to move on.

As an aside, I want to share a story my friend from Mississippi told me. She's a Deputy Sheriff and tonight she went to call where and I quote "it's your typical Mississippi trailer park, we get there and the fight is over laundry because apparently this ain't wash day." Yes, you heard it right. It seems that this particular trailer, in this trailer park has ONE day for washing the laundry and if the person washing the laundry doesn't the like it then..."you can wash it in the bucket out side like I do."

And that is why...you have to love the south.

Friend

By textbook definition, a friend is "a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard." Of course we can assume that the affection is that of caring, kindness, love of the non-romantic kind, as this is just a friend after all, but we all have our own personal definitions of what friends are to us. To me a friend is someone who calls just to see what's going on, how you're doing or how your day went. Or perhaps they send an email "just because" you're in their thoughts, or maybe you chat online, because let's face it, many of us spend alot of time on our computers and people aren't alway available by phone, although you can leave a message on just about any cell phone. I think a friend not only shares in your successes and accomplishments but also in your failures and shortcomings by offering words of encouragement, kindness and offerings of "things will get better". Friends are not fair weather, self-absorbed or in constant use of the word "I". These people are called acquaintences and in the end, whether it be the final "END" or just in passing, a friend will far outlast an acquaintence. An acquaintence lives for the moment of a lifetime, a friend lives for a lifetime of moments. What you may ask, is the reason for this post? Reflection, really. It's a wonderfully, cleansing moment of clairity when you can really see the difference between Friend and Acquaintence.
